They involve in an extremely stressful job that requires the assistants to be 100% loyal to the stars and to hang around them 24/7. In other words, assistants to celebrities have neither personal time nor personal space to call their own. Consider the assistant that Lady Gaga uses, for instance. She claims to have slept in the same bed as Gaga in case she needed anything in the middle of the night.


Not everything that shines is actually valuable. The position of celebrity assistant is not particularly glamorous. They stand behind the successful life and beautiful images of the stars. It was alleged that Campbell threw a phone at her assistant in the year 2001. She grabbed her assistant with her arms and threw her down on a couch. A year ago, the supermodel was accused of assaulting an assistant. She was found not guilty of the charges.

Taryn Manning had a late-night argument with her personal assistant, Holliann Hartman, that turned into a bit of a physical altercation. After punching and choking her assistant, the actress found herself in legal hot water for committing a misdemeanor assault.

Jessica Labrie, who had previously worked as Courtney Love’s personal assistant, filed a lawsuit against her. Labrie claimed the songstress “acted with an improper and evil motive amounting to malice or despicable conduct.” Labrie’s workweeks averaged over 60 hours, but she was not compensated for overtime. In addition to this, she was compelled to send fictitious legal correspondence and was requested to employ a computer hacker.

In addition, Love guaranteed that Labrie would receive a “full-ride scholarship to Yale University,” but he never fulfilled this obligation.

In 2013, Lady Gaga’s assistant, Jennifer O’Neill, sued the “Poker Face” singer for unpaid overtime wages. O’Neill claimed in court documents that she was always in close proximity to the celebrity and that she frequently shared the celebrity’s bed while on tour because she was never given her own hotel room.

And according to Gawker, Lopez gave these requirements for a new assistant: “The person has to be graceful under pressure, have thick skin, and be resourceful in foreign countries. You will be on call around the clock… If the butler is not around, you will need to prepare meals, change diapers, and get very little sleep. You absolutely must be aware of when J. Lo eats her snacks. You are expected to have food waiting for her even though she won’t tell you she’s hungry.

When Mike Anderson was working as Lance Armstrong’s personal assistant, he was asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement “that would have made me liable for a large sum of money if I even mentioned ever having worked for Armstrong.” If Anderson had broken the agreement, he could have been held financially responsible. Armstrong dismissed him after he described it in a story for Outside magazine. This was before it was revealed that Armstrong had been using performance-enhancing drugs.
