The many-colored rush tyrant is only 3 – 4.5 in (10-11.5cm) in length. This particular bird is, as its name suggests, a very colorful one. To such an extent that its diminutive body is covered in seven distinct colors. The back and the rump are green, whereas the belly is yellow, and the throat is white. The face ranges in color from blue to gray, and there is a yellow band across the crown of his head. The wings and tail are black, but there is a white bar across the wings, and the outer tail feathers are white. In addition to everything else, there is a dash of red located under the tail.
