Adoption is a win-win situation for the dog and the family, but it’s not always the best decision. And it takes time to adapt. Sometimes a dog needs to be trained in order to get along with new family members.

An irate owner posted on r/AITA about how his dog, Maximo, was taken by an unknown person while it was being trained to wear a muzzle around people. The girl who took the puppy afterwards claimed that she only intended to save it. She believed that muzzling a dog constituted animal abuse and that Maximo’s owner was torturing the animal.

Evidently, the OP wanted to sue her because her justification wasn’t strong enough. OP’s sister, however, thought that he was overreacting to the problem. The sister believed it was cruel to charge someone who took risks to rescue a dog from its owner thinking she was doing the right thing. What would you do in that position, if you were in it? After it was shared on Reddit, the story quickly became the center of the Internet, receiving 11.2k upvotes and over a thousand comments. Before reaching the conclusion that the OP is not an a**hole, a Redditor participated in the conversation.

The top comments advised OP not to overthink and upset himself about the situation. The girl was wrong to steal his dog.

No one has a right to take a dog from its owner(s) without permission, no matter why. It caused mental distress for both the dog and owner(s).

Some people even think that she was just making excuse, and the reason why she stole the dog was that she really wanted it.

She should have called the police or joined with the animal rescue if she really wanted to help the dog.
