Head Chef Who Went Vegan Decided To Quit After Still Getting Orders From Owners To Cook Meat Dishes

Involvement in personal activities should be kept separate from work. A very large gap should exist between the two. Let me give you a very basic exam..

Your personal life should never get in the way of your professional life.

A vast divide ought to exist between the two. Please allow me to provide a very basic illustration of this idea. Imagine you’ve never smoked in your life but live in a neighbourhood that does. That’s fantastic news about your longevity. That being said, you shouldn’t turn down a $120,000 annual salary at a tobacco company just because you don’t want to be around smokers. You’d have to be a complete moron to do that. Wow, now I understand the distinction. It is your own decision whether or not you want to do something. Perhaps you’re thinking about making some changes to your diet, such as going vegan or non-vegan. Nonetheless, you shouldn’t let your personal preference interfere with your professional advancement. In the business world, you’ll inevitably come across customers who couldn’t care less what kind of diet you follow; they just want to be served, and if you’re the one doing the serving, you shouldn’t make a big deal out of refusing to cater to those who don’t value your preferences. To put it bluntly, that’s a career ending.

Today, restaurant owner and Reddit user u/-SilverMoonSoul- tells the tale of how their revered head chef made the ethical decision to abandon animal products. However, he went on to flat-out refuse to handle or prepare any meat in any capacity. Since it specialised in serving meat, most of the menu items would undoubtedly contain protein. When the owner insisted that the head chef start preparing meat dishes, the chef resigned, only to cry like a baby and ask to be rehired the next day. In order to win back his job, he even claimed that his temper tantrums were due to “mental health issues.”

1. The decision of the head chef who turned vegan was very much respected but he for some reason refused to work with the restaurant anymore because their specialty was meat.

Despite the fact that after he became a vegetarian or vegan, he was never offered anything containing meat. They’d go out and get vegan food so he’d have something to eat at the office.

2. The head chef slowly started refusing to do anything related to meat and that was a problem. He wouldn’t even create menus that involved meat items.

3. Stop serving meat? Mate, you are the head chef, not the owner.

5. He was told to go sleep before he makes an irrational decision. He didn’t listen. Now he has to suffer.

Frankly, I have no idea what OP’s loved ones are using. It would be too late to declare OP the AH if the head chef turned out to be mentally ill due to the large number of shots he had already been administered. In fact, OP asked the head chef to rest before he made a hasty decision to quit and advised him to get some sleep and return the next day. There is no hope for you if you refuse to take advice from a boss who genuinely wants to see you succeed. NTA was OP.

11. This person raised a solid point. Shouldn’t they be getting treatment instead of cooking at OP’s restaurant?
