A large, peculiar companion lives with a Russian couple in the teeny-tiny apartment that they share. And beside its large stature, the 90lb puma also have a big name. One of the most famous players in the annals of soccer’s past goes by the name Messi. Mariya and Aleksandr Dmitriev have first seen Messi, the puma, at the Saransk Zoo in Penza. The gorgeous cat had only eight months under its belt at the time.
At the zoo, he was one of three cubs that were born that day. The other two, Suarez and Neymar, were also named after famous players in honor of the fact that the World Cup will be held in this city in Russia on four separate occasions. Messi was only three months old when he was acquired by the Saransk Zoo after being sold there. Here he struggled with health issues.

Both Mariya and Aleksandr were instantly smitten with the puma when they saw it for the first time. So they decided to appeal to the zoo in order to buy him.

According to his wife Mariya, Aleksandr, 38, had always dreamed of owning a big cat, “He always thought about having a lynx – never a puma. It’s difficult to put into words, but we truly believe that the presence of this puma is a part of our fate.

Regardless, taking care of Messi presented a significant obstacle for the Dmitriev family. In addition to the fact that he is a wild animal, the puma required medical attention. Mariya stated that the individual was quite frail and required a great deal of attention.

Messi requires a significant amount of attention, just like any other kind of pet. In addition to this, he needs a lot of physical activity. Because of this, his human parents went out and bought him a unique coat as well as a harness so that they can take him on walks. “He is like a dog. We started out by taking him on short strolls around the neighborhood. The animal hadn’t been really active before, Aleksandr said in an interview with RT, “Now we walk a lot twice a day, as it’s supposed to be. In this regard, there is not a great deal of difference between having a dog and doing so.”

Finding a wild animal handler wasn’t an easy task. But in the end, the couple was successful in locating a school that specialized in dog training.

Messi, the puma, is not only a star in the eyes of his mother and father. Additionally, he has more than 180,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel and over 600,000 followers on Instagram. This, however, does not come as a shock when one considers how cute he is.
