Elaeomyxa Cerifera, also known as the amethyst mushroom galaxy, was discovered in 1942. In order to dismissal ascospores like a glowing star the fungi’s fruiting structures splits are open. It’s almost like a mushroom with a galaxy hidden inside of it. These can be seen on large logs or rostrums that are covered with lichen or hepatics that look like leaves all over them.

A scientist named Sarah Lloyd loves to research and photograph these mush rooms and she has spend a lot of time in that. After discovering some of these in her home, she became intrigued by them and made the decision to investigate all of the mushrooms she could find in the surrounding area. She has over 1700 different kinds of fungi in her extensive collection of these items. The images clearly demonstrate that there is an excessive amount of glittering present.
